“This is a cute place to stay if you’re only planning on being there for a few days, there is not much around the area and it’s more of a small stop you make if you have to rather than a longer stay. It was super clean and at first the staff were great at communicating, later we tried contacting the staff to checkout early or to ask for other amenities and were left for days without a response, so very disappointed with their “24/7 available communication,” because it didn’t seem like they were……

“My wife, dogs and myself all loved this stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Having such a great area for the dogs was fantastic. Will definitely stay here again. First time staying someplace and never interacting with any staff, different but I liked it.”

“Check-in was a little difficult. You had to walk up to the main entrance door and call a cell phone number. I called it and it wouldn’t even let me even leave a message. But the person checking you in on this virtual check-in did call me back right away, so they must have caller ID. But it was a pain in the ass cause she was working at another motel as well, it’s just kind of a bad set up for check-in.”

“We really enjoyed all the renovations to this location— so happy that someone has finally invested in sprucing up accommodations in the UP. Every year we come through this area and have always had to put up with dumpy accommodations because there is nothing nice to pick from. So BRAVO to the Manistique Sands!”

“Motel was good, room just had a slight smell to it. The area has a lot of mosquitoes so a good amount of them made it into the room when we opened the door.”

“The staff was great but the owner should put more money into their investment. Maintenance is lacking and amenities were very worn (microwave, coffee maker, hot water heater- rusty hot water, furniture). The tv is about 12 inches. If you are looking for a place to sleep it’s not so bad- but if you want a hot shower with clean water this is not the place for you.”

“Bare light bulbs in bath. Shower had dirty mat. Floor not close to looking clean in shower area. Cheap spreads on beds. Was really glad to leave.”

“Stayed there twice. First time was when I got into Michigan with my daughter. Room smelled of chlorine but next to pool. No breakfast as mentioned when booking. Booked hotel for the night before I had to leave and still no breakfast. Asked about it and they said it’s under renovations. Mentioned that while booking it had breakfast included and he said he doesn’t know why it’s on there and maybe I should ask for a discount.”
